R&B band, Perfect Mix, to play a free concert at USI

The University of Southern Indiana will be filled with the sounds of old school R&B and funk as the band, Perfect Mix takes the stage, from 9 p.m. to midnight, Wednesday, March 18 in Carter Hall in University Center West. The band will play a free concert featuring covers by bands like Earth, Wind and Fire, The Commodores, Bruno Mars and other 1970s and 1980s classics.

Many members are veteran musicians who have toured the Tri-state area for over 20 years as The Chameleons and Old School Players. The band headlined last year's Sculpt EVV arts festival and will be performing again for Sculpt EVV 2015. Dr. Hilary Braysmith, associate professor of art history and organizer of Sculpt EVV, said the upcoming concert is a celebration of black history and a recognition of the contribution that R&B has made to music. "Perfect Mix plays old school R&B the way it should be played," said Braysmith.

Band members include: Paul Bruin, music director and bass; Danny Ray Osborne, vocals; Jeff Clark, guitar; Greg Williams, drums; Michael Savage, keyboards; Nathaniel Waddell, vocals; and Terressa Tyler, vocals.

Band members Bruin and Osborne have performed and toured with Chuck Mangione, The Bar-Kays and Chaka Khan. "We expect the audience to get up and dance," said Bruin.

The event is sponsored by USI's College of Liberal Arts and is free and open to the public. For more information contact Hilary Braysmith at hbraysmi@usi.edu or 812-464-1740.
