Visiting artist Susanna Coffey to lecture

The University of Southern Indiana's Art Department will host a visiting artist, internationally-recognized painter Susanna Coffey, on Monday, April 6. Coffey will present a lecture about her work from 7 to 8 p.m. in Kleymeyer Hall in the Liberal Arts Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Coffey lives in New York City and is the F.H. Sellers professor in painting at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She received her MFA from Yale School of Art and her BFA from the University of Connecticut. Her paintings have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows across the United States and abroad. 

Her work has been reviewed in many publications including Art in America, The New York Times, Hyperallergenic, ArtNews, The New Art Examiner, Art New England and NY Arts. Her work is held in many prestigious public and private collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Seville, Spain, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The National Academy of Art and Design in NY, Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, Connecticut and The Art Institute of Chicago. She has been the recipient of many esteemed awards including The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award and the National Endowment for the Arts.
