USI lecture makes a trek 'North of the Wall'

Marvin Susott, adjunct instructor in history at the University of Southern Indiana, will present "North of the Wall: Artifacts and Cultures beyond the Walls in Roman Britain," which explores the creation of the Hadrian's Wall and Antonine Wall and their influence on culture and trade.

The presentation begins at 3 p.m. Friday, November 20, in Kleymeyer Hall in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center at USI.

Susott will discuss how the Hadrian's Wall and the Antonine Wall formed a distinct borderlands region that served as a conduit for cultural interactions in Roman Britain. This study focuses on geo-spatial modeling, creating a GIS of the borderlands and frontier zone and mapping the distribution of known Roman coin hoards on this landscape.

Susott is the final speaker in the College of Liberal Arts Faculty Colloquia Series, individual public lectures featuring current faculty research.
