Registration open for USI's SwISTEM summer camps

Registration is now open for three different camps offered this summer through the University of Southern Indiana's SwISTEM Resource Center and the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education for children from 6th through 12th grade.

Girls Only (GO) STEM!
The sixth annual Girls Only (GO) STEM! summer camp allows high school girls to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. GO STEM! will be held from June 12-16. Participants will stay on the USI campus in residence hall learning communities. Each community will have a female undergraduate student mentor who will help with various activities and provide girls with guidance and networking connections. Included as part of the camp is a learning excursion to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari. GO STEM! is open to girls in grades 9-12. The cost of the camp is $150. Applications are available until May 9 at www.swistem.org.

"GO STEM! is important in building girls' confidence in STEM fields, while letting them discover just how fun science is," said senior biology and chemistry major and former mentor Kayley Pemberton. "It also gives them the ability to connect with other girls who are interested in the same things from all across the state of Indiana. I really enjoy getting to see the girls make new discoveries and learn."

Middle School Innovation Camp
The Middle School Innovation Camp is for children going into 6th through 8th grade during the fall of 2016. This camp will offer middle school students the opportunity to "Think Outside the Box" by exploring topics relevant to 21st century STEM applications in an engaging week-long day camp experience on the campus of the University of Southern Indiana. This camp takes place July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is now open. The cost to attend the camp is $150.

Engineering & Manufacturing Creativity Camp (EMC2)
Engineering & Manufacturing Creativity Camp (EMC2) gives high school students a chance to learn how the stuff they use every day is made through a series of exciting on-campus activities and field trips to local manufacturers. This camp takes place July 11-15 from 9 a.m. -4 p.m. Registration is now open with a fee of $50.
