Cleek awarded 2016 M. Edward Jones Engagement Award

March 3, 2016

The University of Southern Indiana Outreach and Engagement 2016 M. Edward Jones Engagement Award was presented to Linda Cleek, executive director emeritus of Lifelong Learning during the second annual Celebration of Engagement March 1.

The award is given annually to an individual, group or project for excellence in leadership, commitment to quality, tireless service and dedication to lifelong learning in fulfilling the outreach missions of USI.

Cleek retired in December 2015 after 41 years of service to USI and the community. Starting out as a secretary for the director of Continuing Education, as it was then called, Cleek worked her way up to executive director. "My first day at USI was September 9, 1974. I have been lucky to be here ever since, working with great people and getting great programs off the ground," said Cleek.

Despite retirement, Cleek plans to remain involved with Outreach and Engagement.

The Celebration of Engagement is an annual event held to celebrate community partnerships. This year's event featured talks by Dr. Linda L. M. Bennett, USI President, heads of Outreach and Engagement programs and a keynote address from Linda E. White, president and CEO of Deaconess Health System.
