Commencement ceremony for Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education to be held on April 30


The University of Southern Indiana will hold a Commencement ceremony for undergraduate students in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30 in the Physical Activities Center (PAC) on the USI campus.

Eileen M. Weber '98 is the speaker for the 2016 Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education Commencement ceremony. She is a product manager at Red Spot Paint and Varnish Company, Inc., where she has been employed for 18 years.

A graduate of USI, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry in 1998 before starting her career at Red Spot Paint and Varnish. While at USI, she was a Presidential Scholar and a member of the Women's Basketball team. She went on to receive an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Evansville in 2008.

Throughout her career, Weber has served in management roles leading research teams, managing product lines of various capacities, and leading collaborative efforts across global entities. Currently serving as product manager at Red Spot, her focus is on product line management for UV curable, exterior thermal primers and adhesion promoters, as well as sport coatings. Strategic management of product lines also encompasses the management of technical, engineering and business development functions.

A current member of the USI Alumni Council and USI Athletic Council, Weber has served in numerous leadership roles during her terms. She has twice been inducted into the USI Athletic Hall of Fame, once in 2009 as an individual and in 2012 as a member of the Women's Basketball team. Also in 2012, she was inducted into the Great Lakes Valley Conference Hall of Fame. USI recognized Weber during its 50th anniversary in 2015 as one of 50 Phenomenal Women of USI.

Also at the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education ceremony, Dr. Kathy Rodgers, professor of mathematics, will be awarded the Distinguished Professor Award, and Maria A. Anderson will receive the President's Medal, the highest honor the University presents to a graduate. Anderson is graduating with a bachelor's degree in biology, is pursuing a master's degree in health administration, and maintained a 3.9 GPA while participating in the Early Undergraduate Research Program and receiving a USI Endeavor Grant.

A reception for the graduates and their friends and families will follow the ceremony and will be held in University Center East.

Three other colleges at USI will conduct ceremonies on April 30 according to this schedule:

  • Romain College of Business and Outreach and Engagement, 9 a.m.
  • College of Liberal Arts, noon
  • College of Nursing and Health Professions, 6 p.m.
  • A commencement ceremony for graduate students will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29 in the PAC.
