MPA Speaker Series to feature Evansville native James Hitchcock
September 13, 2016
The University of Southern Indiana's Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program and the MPA Society will host James Hitchcock, assistant editor at RealClearPolitics in Washington D.C., at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20 in University Center 2207. Hitchcock's presentation, titled "Making Sense of 2016: Reflections from a Year in Political Journalism," will kick off this semester's MPA Speaker Series. This event is free and open to the public.
A political junkie for as long as he can remember, Hitchcock was selected as one of two Indiana delegates to the Hearst Foundation sponsored United States Senate Youth Program, spending a week in Washington D.C. during his senior year at Signature School. His passion for politics continued during his time at Williams College in Massachusetts where he thrived in many extracurricular activities. From working as general manager of the Williams campus radio station to being editor-in-chief of the Williams Alternative newspaper, Hitchcock made his voice heard and urged others to do the same as an avid political and free speech activist.
As co-founder and president of the speaker series dubbed "Uncomfortable Learning at Williams," Hitchcock caught the attention of contrarian thinkers such as Jonah Goldberg and Greg Lukianoff. Hitchcock's passion took him to Washington, D.C., where he currently serves as assistant editor for RealClearPolitics , a political news and data aggregator frequently cited in and respected by numerous media outlets.
