March 18, 2022 declared as Titus Winders Day

In celebration of USI Track & Field junior Titus Winders becoming the first student-athlete in program history to win two national championships in an indoor track & field season, the USI community packed the house in Carter Hall to congratulate him. As part of the festivities, USI President Ronald Rochon presented a proclamation from Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, declaring March 18, 2022, Titus Winders Day.

Here is the full proclamation: 

Whereas the University of Southern Indiana Men's Indoor Track & Field All-American, Titus Winders, became the eighth student-athlete in USI history to win an individual national championship; and 

Whereas under the direction of Head Coach Mike Hillyard, Titus Winders became the first student-athlete in USI history to win two national championships in the same season; and

Whereas Titus Winders set school records in both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters and an NCAA Division II Indoor Championship meet record in wining his two national championships; and

Whereas Titus Winders concluded a historic stretch that saw him with three GLVC titles, earn two All-American awards and four All-Region awards; and 

Whereas Titus Winders was named the GLVC Indoor co-Track Athlete of the Year, then 

Therefore be it resolved that I, Lloyd Winnecke, Mayor of the City of Evansville, do hereby proclaim March 18, 2022, as Titus Winders Day in the City of Evansville, Indiana. 

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the great seal of the City to be affixed this 18th day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty two.
