Three promoted to USI director-level positions

The University of Southern Indiana announces three recent director-level promotions with Outreach and Engagement.

Jaclyn Dumond – Director of College Achievement Program (CAP) and Lifelong Learning

Jaclyn Dumond, previously Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning, has been named Director of CAP and Lifelong Learning.

As Director, Dumond is responsible for two distinct teams: the first team manages all aspects of USI’s nationally accredited dual credit program (CAP) and participating high schools, and the second team is involved in all levels of planning and administering open-enrollment lifelong learning opportunities for individuals. While a diverse portfolio, both areas bring the resources of the University into direct connection with the geographic area, enhancing the overall quality of life for USI’s neighbors.

Dumond holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Taylor University, a master’s degree in public administration from USI and is currently working toward obtaining a doctorate in education from USI. She joined the University in 2004.

Joel Matherly – Director of Veteran, Military and Family Resource Center (VMFRC)

Joel Matherly has been named Director of Veteran, Military and Family Resource Center. Previously, he served as Assistant Director of VMFRC.

As Director, Matherly is responsible and accountable for providing leadership, administration and managing operations of the University’s VMFRC. The position leverages University, government, corporate, and community resources to identify, develop, implement, promote, deliver, and evaluate veteran, military, and family programs and activities that serve USI veteran recruits, current USI veteran and military students and their dependents.

Matherly holds an associate's degree in business administration from Ivy Tech Evansville, a bachelor’s degree in professional studies and a master’s degree in business administration, both from USI. He served in the United States Army from 1995 until 2022, and as Operations Officer for the United States Army Cadet Command in Fort Knox, Kentucky, from 2005 until 2013. Matherly joined the University in 2013.

Steven Stump – Director of the Center for Applied Research

Steven Stump, previously Assistant Director of the Center for Applied Research (CAR), has been named Director of CAR.

As Director, Stump is responsible and accountable for fostering and expanding projects and research opportunities with external organizations on behalf of the University. In this role, he is responsible for leveraging faculty and student expertise and University labs and equipment to help for-profit, non-profit and government entities achieve their organizational goals.

Stump holds a bachelor’s degree from USI and a master’s degree in business administration from USI. Prior to joining USI, he worked with Ivy Tech Community College Southwest as Director of Development and Alumni Engagement, Southern Indiana Network for Education and Pearison, Inc. Stump joined the University in 2015.
