2026 USI M. Edward Jones Engagement Award now open for nominations
September 25, 2025
University of Southern Indiana Outreach and Engagement is now accepting nominations for the 2026 M. Edward Jones Engagement Award through Monday, December 15. The M. Edward Jones Engagement Award was created to recognize an individual, group, or project for excellence in leadership, commitment to quality, tireless service and dedication to lifelong learning in fulfilling the outreach mission of USI. Thanks to the generous investment of Dr. M. Edward Jones and his wife, Cindy Brinker, the recipient will receive a $1,000 award.
"Over the past 10 years, outstanding award recipients have been recognized for their significant contributions to the community," says Dawn Stoneking, Executive Director of Outreach and Engagement. "We appreciate the strong culture of educators, innovators and collaborators who strengthen ties between community members, government, businesses and organizations—addressing their needs and promoting lifelong learning."
The award was founded in 2015 to honor Jones, Vice Provost Emeritus for USI Outreach and Engagement. Jones, Founding Director of Continuing Education (now Outreach and Engagement), was a key player in creating and expanding outreach efforts during his USI career from 1974 to 2010. His endeavors significantly bolstered the growth and range of programs Outreach and Engagement offers.
The 2025 M. Edward Jones Engagement Award was awarded to Dr. Renee Frimming, Chair of the Kinesiology and Sport Department; Director of the Master of Science in Sport Management Program; and Professor of Kinesiology and Sport in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education. She demonstrated her commitment to lifelong learning through new academic offerings, expanded K–12 partnerships and advanced international collaborations, including a groundbreaking agreement with Chengdu Sport University to facilitate faculty exchanges and bring students to USI.
Faculty, staff, retirees, students and alumni may submit nominations at USI.edu/JonesAward. For more information about the M. Edward Jones Award and previous award recipients, visit USI.edu/JonesAward.
