AbbVie AI expert to headline USI Romain Market Makers event

The University of Southern Indiana Romain College of Business is proud to welcome Brian Martin, Chief AI Product Owner at AbbVie, as the next speaker in the College’s Romain Market Makers Speaker Series. He will deliver his presentation, The Impact of AI and the Future of the Cognitive Enterprise, from 10-11 a.m. Monday, February 23 in Carter Hall D, located on the second floor of the University Center West.

In his presentation, Martin will share insights into the evolving role of artificial intelligence in business and research, offering students a front-row view of how advanced technologies are reshaping industries and creating new opportunities for innovation. The event is open to the public at no charge.

Martin is a leading expert in artificial intelligence and digital transformation within the life sciences industry, serving as the Chief AI Product Owner and Senior Research Fellow within AbbVie’s Community of Science (ACOS). At AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to discovering and developing innovative medicines, Martin plays a central role in shaping AI strategy and driving the deployment of advanced technologies that accelerate research and discovery across the organization.

Since joining AbbVie in 2018, Martin has led the development and scaling of enterprise-wide AI initiatives that empower scientific teams to leverage machine learning, deep learning, cognitive computing and other cutting-edge technologies to solve complex research problems and improve decision-making. In his work, he focuses on transforming vast and varied data into actionable insights that support breakthroughs in drug discovery and development.

Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in computer and cognitive science from Alma College and a Master of Science degree in computer science from the University of Chicago.
