95.7 The Spin takes home 12 awards from Indiana State Broadcasters Competition
On March 28, students at the University of Southern Indiana’s 95.7 The Spin, USI’s student-run radio station, took home 12 awards across 11 categories at the Indiana State Broadcasters Competition in Indianapolis.
- Jadie Hearing from Evansville placed first in Radio Copywriting
- Jude Boyer from Rockport, Indiana; Jerry Haller from Evansville; and Sebastian Hagler from Newburgh, Indiana, placed first in Radio Imaging
- Jude Boyer also placed first in Original Radio Drama and second in Sound Design
- Mariah Moore from Evansville, Indiana placed second in Original Radio Drama.
- Matthew Kolb from Charlestown, Indiana placed second in Basketball Play-by-Play and Radio Sports Update
- Matthew Kolb also placed third in Football Play-by-Play and Radio Air Personality
- Nick Gudorf from Evansville placed second in Radio News Anchor
- Wren Stephenson from Henderson, Kentucky, and Sydney Thawnghmung from Fishers, Indiana, placed third in Radio Show
- Sadee Goedeker from Charlestown, Indiana, placed third in Radio Sporting Event
“The recent performance at the Indiana State Broadcasters Competition is a testament to the hard work and incredible talent of the students in the Communication and Media Department,” said Dr. Wes Durham, Chair of USI Communication and Media. “The 12 awards earned by USI students are massive and, in some ways, expected based on the sustained excellence of our Radio and Television program. I congratulate all of the phenomenal students who won awards and the dedicated faculty who have mentored them.”
