Theatre concludes its 2025-26 season with Dear Evan Hansen


The University of Southern Indiana Theatre Department is proud to announce the Indiana Collegiate Premiere of the Tony Award winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen, running Wednesday through Sunday, April 23-26, at the USI Performance Center. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

With music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Steven Levenson, Dear Evan Hansen has become a cultural phenomenon, resonating deeply with audiences for its honest portrayal of mental health, loneliness and the human need for connection in a digital age.

The production will be directed by Dr. Joshua Robinson, Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre, with Musical Direction provided by Thomas Drury, Advanced Instructor in Music, and Choreography by Jaddyn Sage, Lecturer. The story follows Evan Hansen, a high school student struggling with social anxiety, who finds himself at the center of a misunderstanding that spirals into something far bigger than he ever imagined. As events unfold, Evan must navigate truth, identity and the consequences of his choices.

The cast will feature Ethan Hoover ’26, Abby Scheller ’26, Brynne Stephens ’26, Cruz Quiroz ’26, Eric Meyer ’27, Will Monroe ’27, Morgan Ray ’27 Kris Carlos ’28, Car Downs ’28 and Dezarae Washington ’29. Assisting on the artistic side will be Brecken Maddox ’27 as the Assistant Director; Grey Miller ’26 as the Production Stage Manager; Noah Short ’28 and Qais Jawabreh ’28 as Assistant Stage Managers; Brady Kolb ’26 as Wardrobe Manager; Emma Marshall ’27 as House Manager; and Chrislyn Miller ’29 as Box Office Manager.

Due to the show’s mature themes including discussions of mental health, the production is recommended for audiences ages 13 and up.

Tickets are $2 for USI students; $12 for USI employees and alumni; $4 for non-USI students (student ID required); $12 seniors (60+); and $15 for adults. Tickets are free to USI students with ID one hour before each performance begins based on availability.
