USI Sonography offering free pregnancy ultrasounds

The University of Southern Indiana Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program is offering non-diagnostic ultrasounds to expectant mothers in their second or third trimester (18-34 weeks pregnant) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons through December 3, 2026. Students will be practicing assigned images under the direction of experienced faculty members.

“This collaboration gives students valuable hands-on experience before they begin obstetric clinical rotations,” said Amy Wilson, Chair of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. “In our campus sonography lab, students practice obtaining images of detailed fetal anatomy and evaluating fetal growth.”

Wilson said that ultrasound sessions are also beneficial for the moms-to-be. “Our volunteers enjoy helping with student education and are always excited to get another peek at their babies.”
