Board of Trustees approves Capital Improvement Budget Request
At its regular meeting on Thursday, September 3, the University of Southern Indiana Board of Trustees approved the 2027-29 Capital Improvement Budget Request to be presented to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, the State Budget Committee and the fiscal committees of the Indiana General Assembly during the 2027 Legislative Session.
The University’s request seeks funding for two capital projects, including $24.6 million for a biomedical training laboratory and $24.9 million for an expansion of the University’s Applied Engineering Center and an arts relocation.
In addition, the Board approved housing and meal plan rates for the 2027-28 academic year and heard an update on construction projects. Housing and dining plan options were reviewed with student preferences and national trends in mind, and the approved rates balance affordability with the flexibility needed to serve a wide range of student needs.
