USI graduate wins two College Broadcasters Inc. student production awards
A recent University of Southern Indiana graduate earned two honors for student-produced programming on 95.7 The Spin at the College Broadcasters Inc. (CBI) Student Production Awards, announced this past weekend during the CBI National Student Media Convention in Philadelphia.
Matthew Kolb, who graduated in May 2026 with a degree in RTV, received first place in the Best Audio Interview category and fourth place in the Best Audio Newscast or Sportscast category. Both award-winning entries were produced for 95.7 The Spin, USI’s student-run radio station.
Kolb earned first place for his audio interview, “Ali Saunders: Basketball Star,” which was recognized as the top entry in the Best Audio Interview category.
He also earned fourth place in the Best Audio Newscast or Sportscast category for his January 20, 2026, sportscast.
The CBI Student Production Awards recognize excellence in student media production at colleges and universities. Finalists were announced before the convention, with the final placements revealed Saturday, October 17, in Philadelphia.
Kolb’s two awards highlight the quality of student-produced content at 95.7 The Spin and the opportunities USI students have to develop their broadcasting and storytelling skills through hands-on media experience.
