Carnahan named Interim Director of Alumni Engagement and Volunteer USI

October 13, 2023

The University of Southern Indiana has announced Maggie A. Carnahan ‘13 M’18, Assistant Director of Development for USI Foundation, as the Interim Director of Alumni Engagement and Volunteer USI beginning January 1, 2024. Carnahan will work closely with Janet Johnson M’05, current Director of Alumni Engagement and Volunteer USI, until Johnson’s retirement on December 22, 2023.

Carnahan has worked at USI for almost eight years. She is a USI graduate, earning a bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising in 2013 and her master’s degree in communication in 2018. Currently, she serves as the Assistant Director of Development for USI Foundation, with a primary focus on major gifts and creating strong connections with alumni and friends for the University. Carnahan has also managed the USI Foundation Student Advisory Board, which was an outcome from the Foundation’s previous capital campaign. During her time at USI, she has served on the Administrative Senate, represented the USI Foundation on the Alumni Association Council and been a part of major fundraising events and projects at USI.

“I’m proud to serve the University in this Interim role and look forward to continuing the strong relationships and connections with our USI alumni,” says Carnahan.

Johnson served as Director for the last 12 years and has been at the University for 23 years. Her work over the years has fostered the continued involvement of USI alumni on campus and see the number of graduates grow to more than 50,000. “It has been my pleasure to work for the University and serve fellow alumni and USI,” said Johnson.

A search to fill the Director position will begin soon.

The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement and Volunteer USI position has been filled by Breanna Wyman. She will begin her new position on Monday, October 16. Wyman has experience working with alumni relations and is the former Director of Sales at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Godfrey, Illinois. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2007 and a master’s degree in international relations in 2010, both from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri.
