Dr. Bill Elliott, Professor of Geology, presented a paper, "Philanthropist Passengers on the Frontier: New Harmony, Indiana and The Smithsonian Institution," at the annual meeting of the Nineteenth-Century Studies Association in Washington, D.C., on July 21.
This presentation was associated with a panel co-organized with Bartell Berg at Hanover College and Caroline Kisiel at DePaul University titled, "More learning than ever before was contained in a boat... Commemorating Ideas and Preserving the Spirit of the Boatload of Knowledge, 1826–2026."
