Successful Admitted Student Day incorporates all of campus

USI welcomed 633 potential students and guests on Saturday, April 11 for Admitted Student Day, an event aimed at helping future Screaming Eagles solidify their decision to attend USI, experience what the campus culture is like, meet fellow students and much more.

“Admitted Student Day truly reflects who we are as a campus community,” says Koryn Parsons, Director of Undergraduate Admissions. The Undergraduate Admissions team, along with others across campus, facilitate various activities such as mock lectures, building tours, conversations with Student Financial Assistance and the Bursar’s Offices, an information fair, placement testing and other presentations showcasing the best of what USI has to offer.

“Every conversation, mock lecture, tour and moment of support helped students feel welcomed, confident and connected,” Parsons says.

The work, collaboration and care from various departments are reflected in the positive responses from potential students and their guests, as well as the enrollment deposits from eligible student attendees, says Parsons. Without the participation of so many employees from across USI, she adds, Admitted Student Day would not be as successful.

“The Undergraduate Admissions team did an exceptional job leading the planning and execution of the day’s recruitment efforts, and the experience was brought to life through the collective contributions of faculty, staff, and student leaders across the University,” says Parsons. “The success and outcomes of the day are a testament to the collaboration, care, expertise, and commitment that define our University.”

Initial outcomes from the day include:

  • Enrollment deposits from 59% of eligible students
  • 44 Screaming Eagles Orientation reservations
  • 22 new TLC applications
  • 14 placement tests
  • 75 families engaging with Student Financial Assistance

“The best part of the day was getting to see what my future classes could possibly look like and meeting people with the same interests as me. It helped clear up a lot of confusion or just any questions I had about college in general. Everybody was so friendly!” one future student said.

One parent commented, “For me as a parent, it was nice to feel reassured that my daughter has everything in order and is ready to start when the time comes.”

Other feedback quotes:

“The event was well organized, everyone was helpful and kind. The event gave me a good idea of what to expect in the fall. Highly recommend. Made me feel comfortable.”

“We really enjoyed how the afternoon was set as a ‘choose your own adventure.’ That way we could go where we wanted when we wanted. The schedule in the app was exceptional.”

“It helped my daughter, and me, feel more like USI was the right choice for her. Everything was well organized, all staff were extremely helpful, all of our questions were answered and she feels more prepared to make the transition.”
