The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at USI offers a Biochemistry minor that provides you with a basic understanding of key chemical concepts, with special relevance to biology. At USI you'll find excellent facilities where you'll gain research experience and receive hands-on training with state-of-the-art instrumentation. You'll work with dedicated faculty who are committed to your success. Class sizes are small, commonly less than 15 students in upper level classes and often 40-50 students in lower level classes. Outside of the classroom, you'll be able to obtain local internships or summer research experiences.
This minor complements a major in other science programs, such as biology, environmental science, geology, or physics, as well as engineering, math, psychology, criminal justice, anthropology, and business.
An undergraduate student should initiate a Change of Academic Program if they wish to add or remove a minor.
The student obtains a Change of Academic Program form from the Registrar's Office or the department of the new major/minor, secures the signature of the department chair/director (or dean) of any major/minor to be added, and returns the form to the Registrar's Office for processing.
A student must submit the completed form by the Thursday before priority registration if the change is to be made within the current semester. Unless granted a waiver by the department of the new major, the student must meet all current program requirements for graduation.
