Civil Engineering Overview

As a Civil Engineering student at USI, you’ll study a wide range of subfields, including structural, water resources, environmental, transportation, and geotechnical engineering. These courses provide both breadth and depth, preparing you to solve complex problems in the field.

Each of USI's civil engineering faculty hold both a PhD and a professional engineering license (P.E.) in a civil engineering specialty. As a result, you will experience an applied perspective in the classroom with a focus on innovative real-world design problems. Many electives include lab components, allowing you to gain hands-on experience, such as producing drinking water from the Ohio River and conducting soil and material tests used by practicing engineers.
