USI's tuition and fees are established by the University Board of Trustees.

Student billing statements are available after the first of every month and emailed to the student and authorized user (if applicable). The student's billing statement is a snapshot of the account activity at that time. Students may view their current activity anytime by logging into TouchNet. 

Below is a listing of the most common tuition and fees beginning fall 2021.

Student Activity Fee

All USI students enrolled in on-campus courses are assessed the Student Activity. This fee supports various campus resources and activities such as USI Theater, Spring Fest, Student Government Association, Eagle Perks, Intramural Sports, Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center, The Shield, Student Organizations, and other various student oriented activities.

Transportation and Parking Fee

All USI students enrolled in on-campus courses are assessed a Transportation/Parking Fee that funds the upkeep of campus roadways, parking lots, pedestrian sidewalks and paths, and the on-campus shuttle bus service.

Counseling Fee

$65.00 for undergraduate students only

The Counseling Center fee supports availability of professional counseling for students struggling with emotional, personal, relational and academically-based concerns. This fee also supports in person and online programs, available to all USI students, on topics including but not limited to: healthy communication, stress management and overcoming anxiety. All programs and services supported by this fee (including services available through the Multicultural Center and Title IX office) are designed to improve the health of our community and to help students succeed academically and thrive in life beyond USI.

New Student Fee

$475.00

One time cost charged to most undergraduate students and funds the following:

  • TK20 software: Tk20 is a comprehensive data management system that allows students to be active online participants in multiple areas of their college experience including course instruction, field experiences, and sharing of assessment data. 
  • The unique costs with enrolling in the University. Limited exemptions are applied to students with a particular enrollment status as defined by the Registrar's Office.
  • Orientation, welcome week, and other on-boarding activities.

This fee is non-refundable.

Online Learning Fee

$50.00

Fee associated with offering courses online (DE campus code). This fee supports the mission of Online Learning in the design, development, and implementation of innovative and engaging high-quality online learning experiences.

Hybrid Fee

$25.00

Fee associated with offering a hybrid of both in-person and online instruction (HY campus code). This fee supports the cost of the design, development, and implementation of innovative and engaging high-quality hybrid learning experiences.

Non-resident Distance Education Fee

Fee to nonresident students enrolled in all online courses associated with offering courses online (DE campus code).

Lab Fees

$75.00 College of Science, Engineering, and Education

Lab fees assist in providing the University's labs with unique facilities, equipment and supplies used in fostering learning and innovation opportunities associated with the College of Science, Engineering, and Education.

$50.00 All other colleges

In general, lab fees assist in providing the University's labs with state of the art technology, equipment, and supplies used in fostering learning and innovation opportunities.

KIN Profession Insurance Fee

$20.00 per practicum

Students enrolled in certain Kinesiology clinical or fieldwork courses which require insurance coverage are assessed this fee to protect the student and the University from liability while the student is at the clinical or fieldwork location.

NURS Profession Insurance Fee

$20.00 per academic year

Students enrolled in certain Nursing or Health Profession clinical or fieldwork courses which require insurance coverage are assessed this fee to protect the student and the University from liability while the student is at the clinical or fieldwork location.

PSY Profession Insurance Fee

$20.00 per academic year

Students enrolled in certain Psychology clinical or fieldwork courses which require insurance coverage are assessed this fee to protect the student and the University from liability while the student is at the clinical or fieldwork location.

SOCW Profession Insurance Fee

$20.00 per practicum 

Students enrolled in certain Social Work clinical or fieldwork courses which require insurance coverage are assessed this fee to protect the student and the University from liability while the student is at the clinical or fieldwork location.

Athletics Fee

$120

The Athletics Fee is based on the projected costs of transitioning from Division II to Division I athletics as documented by an exploratory committee report. The Board of Trustees approved the decision to become Division I in February 2022 and the Athletics Fee in July 2022. The University is a public institution and determines tuition and fees based on the cost of providing education and services to all students. While a particular student may not utilize every service the University offers, including attending University athletic events, spreading the cost of services across a larger student population allows the most access for the most students.

International Student Fee

International students are assessed this additional fee to offset the cost of processing international students' application, forms, and scholarships.

Audit Fee

$50.00 per course

Students who have been granted approval to audit a course will receive this fee. This fee covers the costs of the student observing in a class, but not assessed normal costs, with some limitations.

Housing Student Activity Fee

Charged to all students living in on-campus housing. As a part of our housing community, residents take advantage of the rich variety of educational, social, cultural and recreational activities. The activity fee supports Student Housing Association, National Residence Hall Honorary, area councils, and programming events.

Deaconess Office Visit Plan

$100.00

To meet the needs of students both with and without private health insurance, the Deaconess Clinic has developed an office visit plan (OVP) for a fee per semester. The OVP covers all office visits incurred during a semester. The plan was developed for the convenience of our students who need easy access to a medical provider between classes, or while away from home. It eliminates any co-payment that may be necessary with other insurance providers and provides discounted fees on certain procedures. Students living in on-campus housing will be assessed this fee as a requirement of on-campus housing.

Archie's Book Bundle

$24 per credit hour

Campus Store Inclusive Access

Price varies per class

The Campus Store Inclusive Access charge (formally known as the First Day Access Program) is for an eBook associated with one or more of your courses. The USI Campus Store and your instructor have worked together to ensure this is the lowest cost way to receive the course materials. All students enrolled in that class acquire an access code for their digital content once the instructor opens the class on Blackboard. The instructor of the course should also provide you with additional information about the course textbook materials as well as the deadline to opt out of this option, if you choose to do so. If you would like to opt out of this eBook, you must opt out before the end of the 100% refund period.

Computer Science

Determined by the College of Business, this fee supports the Computer Science program and ensures the program remains current with ongoing advances in hardware and software technology that are integral to the Computer Science curriculum and its delivery.

Engineering Undergraduate Program Fee

$75.00 per credit hour

Determined by the College of Science, Engineering, and Education, the Engineering Program Fees were instituted and are collected to support the acquisition and maintenance of specialized equipment, to enhance student learning experiences in USI's engineering programs, and to help ensure that the faculty and staff members necessary to provide quality instruction in our undergraduate engineering programs are both recruited and retained.

Health Informatics Program Fee

$50.00 per credit hour

Determined by the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the Health Informatics fee gives HIIM students access to Academic Electronic Health Records and any other software that will be used in the HIIM curriculum.

Social Work Program Fee

$50.00 per credit hour

Determined by the College of Liberal Arts, this fee is assessed to required coursework within the Social Work Program for undergraduate and graduate students admitted to the program beginning fall 2018. The purpose of this fee is to provide students with exceptional field education opportunities and create new courses within the program to ensure the students have met the state requirements.

NURS BSN Program Fee

$40.00 per credit hour

Determined by the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the BSN fee is assessed to students in 300-400 BSN courses to cover the unique costs associated with the BSN program. Rates are determined by the individual colleges.

NURS MSN Program Fee

$100.00 per credit hour

Determined by the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the MSN fee is assessed to students in MSN courses to cover the unique costs associated with the MSN program. Rates are determined by the individual colleges.

NURS DNP Program Fee

$150.00 per credit hour

Determined by the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the DNP fee is assessed to students in DNP courses to cover the unique costs associated with the DNP program. Rates are determined by the individual colleges.

OT Program Fee

$100.00 per credit hour

Determined by the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the OT fee is assessed to students in certain OT courses to cover the unique costs associated with the OT program. Rates are determined by the individual colleges.

Respiratory Therapy Program Fee

$50.00 per credit hour

Determined by the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the Respiratory Therapy Program Fee is assessed to students in the Respiratory Therapy Program to cover the unique costs associated with the program. Rates are determined by the individual colleges.
