Mail and Packages

IMPORTANT: The USPS and shipping carriers do not make mail or package deliveries on Saturday and Sunday, holidays or when the University is closed. Mail and packages will be delivered to the office the next business day.

HRL staff checks every piece of mail that is delivered to the office to ensure the addressee is in fact a housing resident and confirms their current living space. If letter mail feels like it contains a credit card, gift card or appears to be a check or some type of important document, HRL staff log those in as packages as added security for the student. Staff also logs in certified mail as packages.

Requesting Your Mail Key

Apartments
Each apartment will receive one key. You will find the key on the refrigerator in your apartment. Roommates will need to agree on a place to keep the key so that all roommates have access to it. Students can work out their own system for checking the mail and sharing the key. If residents lose the mail key, a key can be requested by emailing . Residents can find their box number via the housing icon on myUSI.

Residence Halls
Residents in the residence halls will receive information at check in about how to find their box number and combination via the housing icon on myUSI. Mailboxes in the residence halls are located next to the hall front desk.

Packages

Packages from all carriers (FedEx, USPS, DHL, and UPS) are received by the HRL office. Students will be sent an email to their USI account indicating they have a package and where to pick it up (package lockers or package pick up window). Large packages will require photo ID to pick up. Packages may be picked up in the main housing office located in O'Daniel North apartment complex during business hours. (HRL does not send an email when students receive letter mail unless it is logged as a package.)

What Happens to Your Mail When You Move Out

Housing and Residence Life will not hold or forward mail. The USPS considers a campus address as temporary and will not forward mail. Residents will need to notify family, friends and businesses of their address change.
