Six things to do on or near campus before the start of the Fall Semester

As the days start dwindling and the nights creep in earlier, this is a sign the start of the Fall Semester is near. Ahead of the campus buzz that accompanies a new semester, enjoy a day on or near campus, getting involved in the many opportunities the University has to offer.

Note: Some images (or video) may have been taken prior to the current guidelines on face coverings. Remember that face coverings are required at all times when indoors on the USI campus. For more information on current USI COVID-19 guidelines, please visit the USI COVID-19 Information website.

Bask in the beauty of campus on the USI trails

Enjoy the many miles of multi-use trails on campus, open to the University community and the public. Bent Twig Trails, South Trails and the USI-Burdette Trail all allow you to take in the beauty of campus while savoring the summer weather on a bike ride, stroll or run.

Make a getaway to Historic New Harmony

The town of New Harmony boasts a unique collection of shops, restaurants and outdoor spaces. Spend the day walking the trails at Harmonie State Park, walk and observe the labyrinths or go on a scavenger hunt to explore notable landmarks and findings around the historic town. Historic New Harmony is the perfect, charming destination for a relaxing day away.

Reserve a new read at Rice Library

Slow down to enjoy a popular or casual read from David L. Rice Library. Students, faculty and staff may borrow items from the Rice Library circulating collections using their USI Eagle ID card.  If you're looking for reading suggestions, the knowledgeable Rice Library staff has provided a list of summer reading recommendations available at Rice Library.

Take your learning to new heights in a Lifelong Learning offering

Whether you're looking to add a noncredit or certification course, wanting to better develop your professional skills or freshen up your software skills, USI Outreach and Engagement's Lifelong Learning courses have you covered and are open to anyone in the community, regardless of educational background. All courses are presented in a noncompetitive and informal atmosphere where interest in learning is the primary consideration.

Visit the Campus Store and up your Screagle Pride

The USI Campus Store offers a wide variety of men's, women's and youth apparel, perfect for sharing your Screagle Pride wherever you go. The Store also offers a selection of supplies and electronics, including Apple products and accessories, camera accessories and more. Stop by the Campus Store and check out their inventory or browse online

Enjoy a group exercise class at the RFWC

The Recreation, Fitness and Wellness Center is offering seven classes for USI students, faculty and staff to take advantage of before the start of the Fall Semester. Whether you're wanting to stretch out during your lunch break in Flow Yoga or burn off some calories in Butts N' Guts at the end of the workday, the RFWC can help you meet your health goals.
