A difficult weekend to top, celebrating the Spring Class of 2022 and GLVC titles galore

We're still trying to catch our breath from this weekend, celebrating over 1,700 graduates from the Spring Class of 2022 and abundantly adding to our count of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) honors and titles.
Here's a rundown of what USI has to celebrate:
Commencement Ceremonies
Approximately 1,740 students were eligible to graduate this spring. Graduates from 40 states and 12 countries were represented in ceremonies. Fifty-five students graduated as University Honors Scholars. Forty students graduated Summa Cum Laude (4.0 grade point average), 169 students graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.8-3.99 grade point average) and 140 students graduated Cum Laude (3.6-3.7 grade point average).

USI Softball captures GLVC Championship
Junior pitcher Allie Goodin threw 13 consecutive scoreless innings Sunday to lead USI Softball to its fifth GLVC Tournament title and first since 2018.
USI Softball is the top seed in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional that USI will host Thursday, May 12 through Saturday, May 14. USI will face No. 8 seed Saginaw Valley State University Thursday, May 12 in game two at the USI Softball Field.
USI Baseball sweeps University of Indianapolis
USI Baseball completed its best weekend in the 2022 GLVC schedule by completing a four-game sweep of the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles finish the 2022 campaign 21-28 overall and 10-14 GLVC.
USI Track and Field earns several GLVC titles
Senior Austin Nolan earned the 10,000-meter GLVC Championship title, junior Titus Winders captured the 5,000-meter GLVC Championship title, junior Madison King had a third-place finish in the 800 meters and freshman thrower Loukas Gray was USI's James R. Spalding GLVC Sportsmanship Award nominee. Nolan and Winders, combined, earned three GLVC honors and led the team to a sixth-place finish at the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Senior Jennifer Comastri finished first in the 10,000-meter and second in the 5,000-meter races, sophomore Cameron Hough finished first in the 5,000-meter race, sophomore Lauren Greiwe earned second place in the 10,000-meter race, junior Doriane Langlois was third in both the 5,00 and 10,000 meters, sophomore McKenna Cavanaugh and junior Kara Martin were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter race and freshman Valerie Kehl was USI's James R. Spalding GLVC Sportsmanship Award Nominee. Comastri and Hough, combined, earned four GLVC honors and led the team to a sixth-place finish at the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
