Information for Out-of-State Online Learning Students

Each state has its own approval process for students earning degrees at out-of-state institutions. USI is a member of NC-SARA. The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) is a set of agreements between member states, districts, and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate distance education program offerings. As laws and regulations in these areas are subject to change, this website will be periodically updated.

  • Licensure: Information for students interested in a program that directly leads to licensure (ex. education, nursing, engineering, etc.).
  • State Authorization Process: Information for students regarding the NC-SARA process, providing information regarding eligibility to learn online from USI within a particular state.
  • Complaint Resolution: Information for the process to formally file a complaint.

The University of Southern Indiana participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements.
