Norwegian Foot March Standards

The Test:
The test consists of a 30km/18.6mile march (march/run) with rucksack containing 11kg (24 lbs).
Attire:
Approved military uniform. Field uniform/work uniform and military grade boots. The uniform must be within regulation during the march. Civilian events and where civilians partake in a military setting, civilian clothing is allowed i.e., long trousers and boots with a minimum weight of 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs).
Rucksack with content must weigh in at minimum 11 kg/24 lbs. at both start and finish line. Rucksack/backpack of military grade. Civilian participants can use a civilian version of rucksack.
Participants are encouraged (but not required) to use non-perishable food items as their required weight and donate them upon completion of the event. These food items will be donated to Archie’s Food Closet, a service for all members of the USI community to promote the health and wellness of USI students and employees.
Certificates and Badges:
Upon successful completion of the march, participants will receive the appropriate certificates (both Norwegian and translated) and the badge. Please note that the Norwegian Embassy, Office of the Defense Attaché provides guidelines for awarding the badge:
Bronze Award - First March
Silver Award - Second March through Fourth March
Gold Award - Fifth March
All participants will also receive a 2025 Norwegian Foot March T-shirt.
