Accessibility and Artificial Intelligence (AI): A Week of Learning and Innovation

February 3, 2026

Mark your calendar for a dynamic week February 9 through February 13 designed to empower educators, staff, and creators with the tools, insights and confidence to navigate two essential frontiers in modern teaching: Accessibility and Artificial Intelligence.

Throughout the week, you’ll dive into practical strategies for creating accessible digital content, learn how to meet emerging digital technology guidelines and explore the powerful capabilities of today’s AI tools, both inside Blackboard and beyond. Whether you're looking to enhance your courses, streamline workflows, spark creativity, plan something fun or deepen your understanding of inclusive design, this week offers something for everyone.

From February 9–13, a variety of sessions will be offered, both virtually and in person.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: Curated content highlighting accessibility and AI practices across several campus units. Sessions will include topics related to a variety of areas, from business to personal!
  • Wednesday, February 11 (UC2217-UC2220): Anthology will be onsite for a full day of hands-on training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., complete with snacks, swag and excellent opportunities to grow your skills.

All sessions on February 11 will be recorded and uploaded for later viewing, as will several of the other trainings offered that week. An email with a detailed list of sessions will be forthcoming later this week and the full schedule will be posted on the Blackboard learn Ultra Upgrade website at: https://www.usi.edu/it/blackboard-learn-ultra-upgrade.

Come learn, experiment and imagine what’s possible when innovation and inclusivity work side by side. All are welcome. More detailed information coming soon!

If you would like to share something fun or unique that you currently do with accessibility or AI (personally or professionally), and you are interested in leading a session, please reach out to Shannon Hoehn, IT Project Manager, at smhoehn@usi.edu. If you are successfully using the AI Conversation Tool in your classroom and want to be part of a panel, please reach out!
