Sexual Assault Awareness Month ribbons available

April 9, 2026

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), and this year marks the 25th anniversary of this important campaign. For 25 years, communities across the country have come together to raise awareness, support survivors and work toward prevention, because every voice matters, and every action counts.

At USI, SAAM is about creating a campus environment where sexual assault is not tolerated, and prevention is everyone’s responsibility. This year, the University is encouraging the campus community to Step Forward: Prevent, Report, Advocate. That means speaking up, supporting others and taking action when something doesn’t feel right.

All employees are invited to be part of this effort by wearing a teal ribbon throughout April as a visible sign of commitment to prevention and support. Ribbons are available across campus, including the RFWC, CAPS, Student Life Office, Dean of Students Office, Institutional Equity Office, Housing and Residence Life Office and Community Center and Public Safety. Pick one up, wear it and help show that the USI community steps forward for one another.
