Investigator and Decision-maker Training

Title IX Regulation Training

As required by the Final Title IX Rule (Section 106.45 (b)), all materials used to train University Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process must be made publicly available on the University's website.

For the purposes of compliance with section 106.45 of the Title IX Final Rules, this page identifies training materials that have been used to train Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process in Title IX compliance and practices.

The Institutional Equity Office conducts annual Investigator, Decision-maker, and Advisor training on a number of areas including, but not limited to, the definitions of sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking; the scope of the University’s education program or activity; how to conduct an investigation and grievance process, including hearings, appeals and Informal Resolution processes; how to serve impartially, including avoiding prejudgment of the facts at issue, conflicts of interest, and bias.  Decision-makers will also receive training on any technology to be used at a live hearing and on issues of relevance of questions and evidence, including when questions and evidence about the Complainant’s sexual predisposition or prior sexual behavior are not relevant.  Investigators will also receive training on issues of relevance to create an investigation report that fairly summarizes relevant evidence.

To review the complete training materials packet, please contact the Institutional Equity Office via phone at 812-464-1835 or by email title.ix@usi.edu
