The Office of Sponsored Projects and Research Administration (OSPRA) has updated its name to better reflect its functions and is the Office of Sponsored Projects & Research (OSPR).
Please note that OSPR's website URL has been updated as well, www.usi.edu/sponsored-projects.
OSPR is dedicated to promoting a supportive environment for research, scholarly, and creative endeavors of faculty and academic staff at USI. OSPR supports faculty and staff in their efforts to seek and secure extramural funding through research development and research administration. OSPR also monitors compliance of Federal, State, and University-related regulations, administers the review of human subjects research (IRB), provides grantsmanship, compliance, and responsible conduct of research training, and assists in non-financial post-award administration. Surveys in IRB Projects
If your survey will be distributed by email/completed online as part of your research study,
- It is required that the survey be created in Qualtrics,
- A PDF copy of this survey should be attached to the package in IRBNet, and
- The Informed Consent information should be displayed at the beginning of the survey.
To create a PDF of the Qualtrics survey: 1) Create the survey in Qualtrics, 2) select "Tools", 3) select "Import/Export", 4) select "Print Survey", and 5) "save as PDF." Then, attach this PDF document to the project in IRBNet.

During 2021-2022, the IRB received 149 exempt applications, 44 expedited applications, and 13 limited applications for a total of 206 applications. IRB members conducted 144 exempt reviews, 79 expedited reviews, and 12 limited reviews for a total of 235 completed reviews.
Internal Grants/Awards
Faculty are invited to submit proposals to request funding for research and creative activity projects through university grants/awards. Please view the guidelines for the 2023-2024 Internal Grants/Awards. Proposals for the university grants/awards are due by November 6, 2023, and Intent to Submit forms are due by October 30.
