The USI Staff Council is now accepting nominations for the 2026-2028 term. This is an opportunity for support staff to engage in University governance, advocate for workplace improvements and assist in making the managerial process more effective.
Some of the Council's recent successes include advocating for the inclusion of the uninterrupted meal break in the Employee Handbook, hosting information sessions for support staff and increasing the Support Staff Recognition Award stipend to $700 in 2025.
To be eligible for nomination, an individual must be a regular full-time, non-exempt support staff employee with at least 90 days of employment at USI. You may nominate yourself or a colleague by sending an email to staff.council@usi.edu. Each nomination must include a short paragraph of three to five sentences explaining why the nominee wishes to join the Staff Council. Nominations will be accepted starting Thursday, March 12 and will close at the end of the business day on Wednesday, April 15.
