The purpose of University of Southern Indiana's licensing program is to ensure that University of Southern Indiana's brand identity is properly represented on products and services marketed to the both the University of Southern Indiana community and the public. The licensing program is responsible for determining if a product and/or design are consistent with the goals and image of University of Southern Indiana. The program also ensures the quality, content, production and distribution of products meets University of Southern Indiana's standards.

University of Southern Indiana has contracted with CLC to help improve its licensing program. CLC acts as an intermediary for University of Southern Indiana, enabling it to work directly with manufacturers and retailers. This ensures that decisions can be made promptly and that manufacturers can become licensed with the University of Southern Indiana in a timely manner.

The licensing program is a resource for all members of the University of Southern Indiana community and the vendors who work with the University of Southern Indiana and was designed to ensure consistent and appropriate use of University of Southern Indiana’s visual identity. Additionally, the program enables University of Southern Indiana to share in the benefits derived from the commercial use of these trademarks. 

All University of Southern Indiana trademarks are the property of University of Southern Indiana.

CLC - Learfield Licensing/IMG College

University of Southern Indiana utilizes CLC as its primary licensing agent. CLC assists University of Southern Indiana with the following:

  • Facilitating the license application process,
  • Executing the licensing agreements 
  • Marketing the University of Southern Indiana brand to potential manufacturers,
  • Monitoring the marketplace for unlicensed use of trademarks,
  • Collecting royalty payments, and
  • Conducting compliance review audits of licensed manufacturers.

In order to produce products bearing the marks of University of Southern Indiana, manufacturers and vendors must be licensed through CLC. For more information on becoming a licensed vendor, please contact:

Licensees and Maintaining Visual Standards

University of Southern Indiana licensees are encouraged, within the stated guidelines, to be creative in the application of University of Southern Indiana trademarks. Any and all designs must be submitted through CLC’s Brand Manager 360 system and are subject to approval by Strategic Marketing Affiliates and the University of Southern Indiana prior to production.

The University of Southern Indiana Visual Standards Manual provide the University of Southern Indiana community and commercial designers with thorough explanation of the visual standards to be used for all printed, electronic, promotional and retail items.

The University of Southern Indiana marks may not be altered and all products must be produced by licensed vendors.  For a list of approved vendors, please review the Licensed Vendor Lists.

Information for USI Departments and Student Organizations

University of Southern Indiana departments may use USI marks for:

  • Advertising for the department’s services
  • Staff apparel
  • Equipment and supplies
  • Merchandise
  • Signage
  • Websites

Only officially recognized student organizations may produce merchandise displaying both the student organization's name/logo and the University of Southern Indiana trademarks. All designs must be submitted and approved through CLC's Brand Manager 360 system before production can begin.

The University of Southern Indiana marks may not be altered in any way and must adhere to the University of Southern Indiana's Visual Standards.

University of Southern Indiana departments are required to use licensed manufacturers for all products bearing University of Southern Indiana marks.
