Draw Like a Naturalist Classes
The Firefly Festival returns to New Harmony, Indiana, on Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28, 2025. This fun community event celebrates both the magic of fireflies and the naturalist, Thomas Say, who first described the Say's Firefly in New Harmony in 1826. As one of the many exciting activities planned for the Firefly Festival this year, Historic New Harmony is hosting two sessions of a class called Draw Like a Naturalist.
Savannah Hoskinson, a science and nature-based illustrator from Evansville, Indiana, will be teaching Draw Like a Naturalist classes for adults and kids at the Atheneum Visitors Center on Saturday, June 28 at 10 a.m. (kids, ages 10-17) and 1:30 p.m. (adults, 18+). Participants will receive a sketchbook and small drawing kit to use during the class and take home afterwards. In this 2-hour class, they will learn to closely observe and draw from natural history specimens.
Cost: $15. The price includes the cost of materials (sketchbook and drawing kit). Payments are due on arrival on June 28.
