2024
- May 6 - 4:30 p.m. deadline for students to apply for 2024-2025 housing in order to participate in May room selection
- May 10 - 8 a.m. deadline to have roommate groups completed and invitations accepted
- May 13 - Email sent with room selection appointment timeslot
- May 20-24 - Select a bed space during your assigned appointment time online
- May 27 - Memorial Day - USI closed, no classes
- June 1 - Deadline to cancel 2024-2025 housing contract without penalty
- June 17 - Room notification for students who participated in February and May room selection
- June 18 and ongoing - Students who contract after the May 10 deadline or did not participate in room selection will be emailed as assigned to a room
- June 19 - Juneteenth - USI closed, no classes
- July 4 - Fourth of July - USI closed, no classes
- July 22 - Sign up form to reserve move in date and time available on the Housing Portal
- July 31 - Deadline to make a room change through room selection module
- August 1-September 1 - No room changes can be made
- August 10-11 - Early move in for approved students. Early move in is for students who need to move in early for a University-sponsored activity or program. Students will sign up online for a move in day and time.
- August 14 - Housing check in for TLC students, new incoming freshmen and new transfer students. Students will sign up online for a move in day and time based on their classification.
- August 15 - Housing check in for new incoming freshmen and new transfer students. Students will sign up online for a move in day and time based on their classification.
- August 16-18 - Housing check in for returning students and those unable to move in August 14-15. Students will sign up online for a move in day and time based on their classification.
- August 19 - First day of fall semester
- September 2 - Labor Day - USI closed, No classes
- September 3-13 - Fall room change process
- September 10 - Assessment Day - No classes
- October 7-8 - Fall Break - No classes; students do not have to leave housing during fall break
- November 27-December 1 - Thanksgiving Break - USI closed, no classes; students do not have to leave housing during this break
- December 2 - Housing application and contract for 2025-2026 will be available on the Housing portal
- December 6 - Last day to sign up to stay during winter break; residents with permanent residences in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Henderson (KY), White (IL), or Gallatin (IL) counties are not eligible to stay after the December 13 deadline
- December 13 - University housing closes to residents for winter break; residents must leave by 6 p.m. unless approved to stay late or stay over break
- December 21-January 1 - Winter Break - USI closed including the HRL office, Community Center and C-Store
2025
- January 10 - Students can return to housing on or after this date
- January 13 - Spring semester begins
- January 20 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - No classes
- February 10 - Deadline at 4:30 p.m. for returning residents to contract to participate in returner room selection for 2025-2026 (contracts after this deadline will participate in May room selection)
- February 14 - Email sent with room selection appointment timeslot
- February 18 - Returner roommate groups must be completed and invitations accepted
- February 20-21 - Returners retain same space (if available) room selection for 2025-2026 (no roommate groups allowed)
- February 24-25 - Returner room selection for 2025-2026
- March 10-15 - Spring Break - Students do not have to leave housing during spring break
- April 1 - Assessment Day - No classes
- April 1 - Housing contract for summer available on the Housing Portal
- April 18 - University Holiday - USI closed, no classes
- April 19 - HRL, Community Center and C-Store closed
- May 9 - Last day of spring 2025 semester
- May 9 - University housing closes to residents; residents must move out by 6 p.m. unless approved to stay late or staying for summer
- May 26 - Memorial Day - USI closed, no classes
- June 1 - Deadline to cancel 2025-2026 housing contract without penalty
