New Work Order Software

A new work order software launched in early January. To make access easier for residents, a dedicated button has been added to the Housing Portal for quick navigation. Look for the Fix My Home button.

Reminder: If it is an emergency, call 812-464-1845. Online work orders are not monitored for emergencies.

Preventing Sewage Backups in Apartments

Recently, a few apartments experienced sewage backups, which required emergency relocation and cleanup. You can help prevent future issues by watching for warning signs and being mindful of what gets flushed.

Warning Signs

Contact Emergency Maintenance 812‑464‑1845 if you notice:

  • Slow drains or multiple drains clogging at once
  • Gurgling or bubbling sounds from pipes
  • Strong sewage odors
  • Water backing up into sinks, tubs, or toilets
  • Sewage coming from floor drains or outdoor cleanouts

What NOT to Flush

To avoid clogs, do NOT flush:

  • Paper towels, hand towels, or tissues
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • “Flushable” wipes (they are not flushable)
  • Anything besides toilet paper

About Flushable Wipes

Even when labeled “flushable,” these wipes do not break down like toilet paper and often cause blockages. Please throw them in the trash.

Your help keeps apartments safe, prevents property damage, and keeps everything flowing smoothly. Let us know right away if you spot any issues!

Air Circulation and Furniture Arrangement in Apartments (O'Daniel North, South and McDonald West)

Since students have returned to campus, facilities staff have identified several rooms where furniture is not arranged according to policy. Failure to follow the guidelines below can negatively affect air circulation within the apartments.

  • Students MUST keep a minimum of 18" (inches) between all furniture and air conditioner units and/or vents.  This will allow for proper air circulation and help prevent mildew and mold.
  • Do not place beds too close, up against or over the PTAC unit. Doing so will block air flow and create an environment for mildew and mold.
  • Do not place the couch in front of the air conditioner as the couch cushions absorb moisture.  For best results, place the end table by the air conditioner and then the chair.  Place the couch against the other wall in the living room.
  • Using a fan particularly when humidity is high will help circulate air and improve air quality.
  • In times of good weather, opening up windows will also help with air circulation and quality.
  • Residents should minimize keeping bedroom doors closed. When rooms are closed off for long periods of time the air will become stagnant and this will promote growth of mildew and mold.
