Week 6 — Holding Steady
By Week 6, the rhythm of the semester is real. Assignments are stacking up, expectations are clear, and the pressure is a little louder. But this part? It matters just as much as the big wins.
This is where consistency counts. Not every week will feel exciting or inspiring — and that’s okay. Some weeks are about showing up, staying focused, and taking care of what’s in front of you.
Feeling stretched doesn’t mean you’re falling behind — it means you’re expanding your capacity. You’re learning to handle more, do more, be more. Quiet progress is still progress.
So take a breath. Take a break if you need it. But don’t back down. You’ve come too far to doubt your direction now.
Parking Notice
Beginning Tuesday, September 23, the south and center bays of Lot O will be available for open parking (all students, employees, visitors, etc.). The north bay and curbside parking spaces will remain closed until the remaining construction equipment has been removed and parking space re-striping is completed.
Living on Campus Tip - Excessive Noise
Unwanted noise is a common concern for those living in shared residential environments such as apartment buildings or residence halls.
Residents have the right to move around their space freely and enjoy living on campus. It is important to understand a certain amount of noise is a part of normal daily activities. These noise levels include walking, talking, opening up doors, watching TV, cooking, etc. However, stomping, jumping, slamming cabinets or doors, watching TV or listening to music loudly for extended periods, shouting, fighting, late night parties, etc., are examples of excessive noise.

Update Personal Email
When HRL emails residents, messages are sent to students' USI accounts as well as the personal email address provided on the housing application. Often the personal email accounts are invalid and the messages bounce back.
HRL recommends housing residents update their personal email address through the Housing Portal. This will ensure that residents receive important emails at more than one email account.

Feeling overwhelmed adjusting to college life?
CAPS offers a variety of services and delivery methods for USI students. Schedule an appointment to make your mental health a priority.
Suicide Prevention Awareness
September is Suicide Prevention Month — a time to raise awareness, break the stigma, and support those struggling with mental health. It's a reminder that help is available, hope is real, and even the smallest conversation can make a life-saving difference. Let's come together to promote understanding, compassion, and connection. You are not alone.
Vacancy Inspections
Housing and Residence Life may move or reassign students as needed. When there is a vacancy in an apartment or residence hall, students must keep the vacant space clean in order for another student to move in. Any vacancy not kept clean will be cleaned by custodial staff and a cleaning fee may be added to residents' accounts. Housing and Residence Life staff will inspect vacancies on a monthly basis to ensure the space is ready and make every attempt to give residents 24 hours’ notice before a roommate or suitemate moves in.
Facility Tip
Plug In air fresheners are not allowed in common spaces (hallways, laundry rooms, lounge spaces) in the residence halls. Please be mindful that residents, staff, or visitors may have allergies or have a sensitivity to strong fragrances. These items will be removed when found.
