Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2024


All month: Teal Ribbon Campaign: Pick up a teal awareness ribbon to wear throughout the month of April. Locations include: RFWC, CAPS, Dean of Students Office, Center for Campus Life, Public Safety, and Institutional Equity Office. 

April 2: Coffee & Consent (11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. UC Breezeway): April 2 is SAAM Day of Action! Stop by to test your consent knowledge and grab a free cup of coffee. You can also pick up “I Ask for Consent” coffee sleeves, pens, and stickers! Sponsored by RFWC and Institutional Equity Office. 

April 2: Challenging our Biases: Examining Victim Blaming in our Society (3-4 p.m. in LA Kleymeyer Hall): Join the Liberal Arts Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee for a panel discussion on victim blaming. The discussion will cover understanding trauma, victim blaming vs. victim shaming, Hollywood's influence on how victims are viewed, social media framing and victim narratives, and the criminology, sociology, and psychology of victim blaming. Sponsored by Liberal Arts EDIC Subcommittee, Gender Violence and the USI community. 

April 3: Condom Carnival (12-4 p.m. on the Quad): Stop by the annual condom carnival for sexual health education games and giveaways. Sponsored by Feminist Majority Alliance. 

April 11: Chalk the walk  CANCELED DUE TO RAIN. Chalk a message of encouragement, support, and action around the UC fountain. Sponsored by RFWC, CAPS, and Students for Gender Violence Awareness. 

April 28: Denim Day. Wear jeans or other denim clothing in support of survivors. Use the hashtag #USIDenimDay to share your photo on social media. Learn more about the national campaign at denimday.org
