The Academic Success Center offers a variety of tutoring programs for students at the University of Southern Indiana. Our tutors and Academic Coaches complete comprehensive training and are certified through the National Tutoring Association. We operate as a walk-in help room and are pleased to offer in-person, drop-in assistance (no advanced appointments required), or one-on-one appointments for our students.
All tutoring in is free of charge and available Monday - Thursday 9am-8pm and Friday 9am - 3pm.

Academic Success Center offers the following types of tutoring and assistance. Check in myUSI under Academic Success Center for specific availability of tutors per subject area.
Subject-based peer tutoring provides students with individualized, content-specific assistance in a variety of courses.
All subject-based tutors complete an extensive training program led by the Academic Success Center staff.
The Writers' Room serves as a resource for all screagles by providing assistance from peer writing consultants in a comfortable writing environment or online.
For writing assignments in any class and at any stage of the writing process, peer writing consultants can provide students with guidance and feedback:

A writing consultant will respond initially within 48 hours, except on Fridays and weekends. If all of the information above is not included, it could delay review of the paper.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a voluntary program that offers free, regularly scheduled study sessions for traditionally difficult courses. SI sessions are led by undergraduate student SI Leaders who have previously taken the course and demonstrated academic competency in the subject area. Each SI Leader facilitates two study sessions per week. Please check your syllabus to see if SI is offered for your course.
