After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, students will often wonder what their next step will look like after graduation. Whether you are entering the workforce or continuing your education, a graduate certificate can help you acquire specialized knowledge within a discipline and help tosharpen your set of skills. Here at USI, we have a broad range of certificates that can help advance your career or work to build your resume with flexible programs that are both online and on campus!

What is a graduate certificate?

A graduate certificate is a shorter term of study that focuses on a specific topic to further helpthe student’s understanding. While the program is topic specific, graduate certificates also work to engage students in professional training and career advancement. Unlike master’s degrees,graduate certificates are credit-based credentials that are much more narrowly focused, allowing our students to spend their time developing a specific set of skills or ideas that are applicable to their lives.

How do I apply?

To apply to one of our graduate certificate programs, the first step is to have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. The next step is to determine which certificate works the best for you. Here at USI, we have eight graduate certificates, including six that are online and two delivered here on campus! Once you find a program that fits your needs, the last step is to complete a graduate application and select which certificate you wish to enroll in. A few of the programs that we offer are:

  • Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate
  • Public Administration Certificate
  • Instructional Communication Certificates
