Helpful Resources:
About Career Launch
Career Launch is the official platform used by the Career Success Center to track all University of Southern Indiana student internships and career outcomes. Faculty can also use Career Launch to:
-
View current job and internship postings
-
Explore upcoming career events on campus
-
Monitor student-reported internship activity
-
Access departmental reports upon request
Faculty can request Career Launch access by clicking the Career Launch icon on myUSI or by contacting us via email.
We also offer student-view accounts for faculty who wish to explore the platform as students see it. This can be a helpful tool for advising and classroom demonstrations.
Hiring Student Workers
USI departments and offices looking to hire student workers should post their openings through a Career Launch EMPLOYER ACCOUNT, the university’s centralized platform for student employment. All USI students can access Career Launch via their myUSI dashboard, where they can easily search for on-campus jobs, making it simple to connect with potential student employees.
To post your student worker position, please email the Career Success Center a brief job description, how students should apply and any other specific details.
Work-Study Eligibility
For positions funded through the Federal Work-Study program, you can contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance for a list of students who are eligible. Wages for these students are partially covered by federal funds.
Interview and Hiring Best Practices
When interviewing student worker candidates, hiring supervisors should:
-
Clearly explain the job duties and expectations.
-
Ask the following required question after reviewing the job functions:
“Can you perform all of these functions, with or without accommodation?”
This is a yes or no question and is not intended to initiate a conversation about a disability or accommodations. Supervisors may clarify this as needed.
Interview Accommodations
If a student requires accommodations for the interview, they should notify the person scheduling the interview. If an accommodation is needed, direct the student to Human Resources at 812-464-1840.
Post-Hire Accommodation Requests
If a student discloses a need for accommodation after being hired, supervisors should refer them to 812-465-7101 for assistance.
The Next Destination Survey collects information about the post-graduation plans of University of Southern Indiana students, including employment, continuing education, military service, and other outcomes.
If you have questions about the survey, access to the data or how the data is used, please contact the Career Success Center or the Office of Institutional Analytics.
Students who are graduating should be directed to complete the online survey.
