28th Annual Research, Evidence-Based Practice, and Performance Improvement in Healthcare Conference

Deadline for Abstract Submission:
December 4, 2023

This conference will provide an environment to disseminate research, evidence-based practice and performance improvement among healthcare disciplines. The attendee will have an opportunity to learn about strategies to improve patient care and health care systems, through the keynote presentation and juried oral and poster presentations. The learner outcome of this program is to prepare health professionals to implement effective research and evidence-based healthcare strategies and practices in their individual professional practice.

General Submission Guidelines

Three types of abstracts are invited for submission.

  1. Abstracts of Research.
    Research is the systematic collection of information to generate new knowledge.
  2. Abstracts of Evidenced-based Practice.
    Evidence-based practice is the conscientious integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values and needs for the delivery of quality, cost-effective health care.
  3. Abstracts of Performance Improvement in healthcare issues.
    Performance improvement is a continuous and ongoing effort to achieve measurable improvement in the efficiency, effectiveness, and performance to achieve quality outcomes.

All Oral and Poster Presenters:

  • Research and Evidence-based Practice Abstracts may be submitted for either poster or oral presentation or both.
  • Performance Improvement in Healthcare Issues Abstracts must be submitted for poster presentation only.
  • Each abstract has a unique abstract submission form. Please choose the correct form when submitting your abstract.
  • Abstracts will be reviewed and selected through a blind review process.
  • The first author will be notified of acceptance by email in January 2024. Correspondence will only be sent to the first author listed.
  • All abstracts must be submitted by email.
  • Abstracts must be in English and free of grammatical errors.
  • All author Conflict of Interest Forms are to be submitted with the abstract.
  • The abstract text must contain no more than 300 words. Subheadings are not included in the word count.
  • All oral and poster presenters must register for the conference.

Oral Presentations Only:

  • Oral presentations will be 25 minutes, with a suggested 20 minutes of content and 5 minutes for questions.
  • Only completed projects will be accepted for oral presentation.
  • An LED projector and lap top computer will be provided for all oral presentations.
  • If presenting virtually, a practice will be offered a few weeks prior to the conference.  The Zoom connection for the conference will be provided to accepted presenters a week before the conference.

Poster Presentations Only:

  • Poster presenters are responsible for providing their poster.  All posters must be a self-standing, tri-fold and will be displayed on ½ of a standard 6 ft. table. The tri-fold must be no more than 3 ft wide when fully opened.
  • If presenting virtually, a virtual practice session will be offered a few weeks prior to the conference.  The Zoom connection for the conference will be provided to accepted presenters a week before the conference.  Poster presenters who plan to present virtually will prepare their poster on a PowerPoint slide.

    • Findings
    • Discussion of results
    • Implications for practice
