Learning Opportunities

Step beyond the classroom and into community building through history with Historic New Harmony. From capstone projects that explore New Harmony's continuing relevance to service learning experiences that connect academic coursework with real community needs, you will discover how the skills you're developing in class apply to preserving cultural heritage, engaging diverse audiences, and fostering the kind of collaborative thinking that has always defined New Harmony's spirit. Learn how ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things when they work together toward a shared vision of a better world.

Many University of Southern Indiana students receive their first introduction to New Harmony as freshmen through USI 101: Soar to Success. This annual event showcases New Harmony as a living learning laboratory where you can come together with others to experience, explore, and create.

Another opportunity available to USI students is the Global Engagement Internship with the New Lanark World Heritage Site in New Lanark, Scotland.

Historic New Harmony also offers part-time, paid internships working with our staff on projects related to museum and historic site management.

Whether you're studying history, education, business, communications, or any field that intersects with community development and cultural preservation, Historic New Harmony provides the perfect laboratory for applying your academic knowledge while contributing to the ongoing story of New Harmony.
