Before You Begin

Historic New Harmony welcomes visitors to explore a town shaped by bold ideas, shared work and community. Whether you are here for a few hours or a full day, you can walk historic streets, take a guided tour, experience public art or attend a program that brings the past and present into conversation. Start at the Atheneum, the visitor center for New Harmony and Posey County, where you'll find maps, tickets and help planning your visit.

New Harmony's historic places and landscapes reflect more than a single moment in time—they represent an ongoing effort to imagine how people live, learn and work together. From early nineteenth-century utopian experiments to contemporary art and public programs, the town continues to connect history with new ideas, inviting visitors to explore not only what happened here, but what it might still mean today.

A white, modernist building with clean, geometric lines and an exterior staircase stands behind a wooden fence in a grassy landscape. Large windows wrap around one corner of the structure, and trees with full foliage surround the building under a clear blue sky.
