Guidelines
Any USI student or employee may access the room using their Eagle Access Card. You may check out the key at the RFWC front desk.
Upon accessing the room, lock the deadbolt. When the room is occupied the lock will read “In Use.” When available the lock will read “Vacant.”
All lactation room users are expected to clean up after each use, especially when using the on-site breast pump. This is not only out of respect for other users, but to prevent contamination and illness transmission. Each user should allow enough time within a visit to clean the pump equipment of breast milk spills and dispose of trash properly. Antibacterial wipes and paper towels are provided for cleaning.
The lactation room is located across the hall from the women’s locker room, which contains multiple sinks.
You must provide your own breast milk storage. Breast milk and personal belongings should not be left in the room.
This space is to be used only for activities associated with breastfeeding or expressing milk. Please limit time in the room to 45 minutes or less.
The room is available on a first come, first served basis.
Breast Pump
A Medela Symphony hospital grade breast pump is provided. You must provide your own pumping kit (Medela Symphony Double Breast Pump Kit). Pumping kits can be purchased at:
- Deaconess Women’s Hospital Great Beginnings
- St. Mary’s Medical Equipment Store
- Search for other retail locations
- You may also use your own pump.
