Exhibitions

New ways to see New Harmony's history.

Tours tell you New Harmony's story by taking you through buildings and sites. Exhibitions tell different parts of that story by putting objects, documents and images in front of you—things you can look at closely, think about and use to understand the people who lived here.

Some of our exhibitions draw from Historic New Harmony's collections: manuscripts, photographs, artifacts and materials that document the Harmonists, Owenites and the town's evolution. These exhibitions let us share things that aren't on regular display, explore specific themes in depth or highlight recent acquisitions and research.

We also host traveling exhibitions from other institutions. These exhibitions connect to New Harmony's history and mission—exploring utopian communities, social reform movements, religious history or other themes relevant to what happened here. Bringing in outside exhibitions means we can offer perspectives and materials beyond our own collections.

Exhibitions change. What's up this year might not be here next year. If something interests you, see it while you can. And check back. There's usually something new to discover.
