Be comfortable with being uncomfortable, because that’s where growth begins. Some of the most meaningful friendships, opportunities, and memories come from simply saying yes to a new experience or starting a conversation with someone you’ve never met. College is about so much more than earning a degree it’s about discovering who you are, building a community, and creating stories you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life. Don’t be afraid to take that first step; you never know how one moment or one connection could change your journey.”

"I’m an International student from Penonome, a city in Panama. Some things I like to do are sports and music, specifically soccer and swimming. Being part of the international orientation team is very exciting because I have always liked to provide support to others, and I can help new students adapt and at the same time learn a little about international culture. One advice I give to new international students is to not hesitate to ask questions!"

“I first came to USI in 2021 as a cultural exchange student from Karachi, my first time ever leaving Pakistan. Even though everything was new, the support I received from USI helped me adjust quickly and truly feel at home. I made lifelong friends, discovered a new confidence in myself, and built a connection with this campus that stayed with me even after I returned to complete my degree and work back home. After spending 4 years in Pakistan building my academic and professional experience, I chose to come back to USI for my graduate studies because this is where I grew the most. Now, I'm excited to give back to the community that once supported me. As an Orientation Leader, I want to help international students feel welcomed. I would love being a source of support.
