Why did you choose USI and the Romain College of Business and what makes them special to you?
I chose USI and the Romain College of Business because it offered me the chance to get ahead in my career while still feeling like part of a community. One of the biggest draws was the ability to graduate early and take advantage of the accelerated master’s program. In just four years, I’ll be earning both my bachelor’s degree and a master's in business administration with a concentration in AI, which is such an exciting opportunity. What makes Romain really special to me is the sense of community. Professors know your name and there’s always a chance to get involved. It’s the perfect balance of challenging myself academically while feeling supported along the way.

What are some of your favorite classes or experiences at Romain College?
One of my favorite classes at Romain has been Development Economics. I really enjoy how it connects directly to current events and global issues, like the rise of China or the ongoing challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa. It’s made me feel more informed about what’s happening in the world and how different regions are connected, which is something I’ve found really valuable. Classes like this are what pushed me to add my Global Studies minor, because I love being able to tie what I’m learning to real world events.

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen? What do you wish someone had told you?
Freshman year doesn’t always go the way you planned, you might end up in classes you didn’t pick, stuck with a 7 a.m., or feel cramped in your dorm. That’s normal! The trick is to flip your mindset. You don’t have to do these things, you get to. Every class and experience is a chance to grow, even the tough ones. Most importantly, be present. Treat your dorm as just a place to sleep and spend your time on campus. The more you’re around, the more connected you’ll feel, and the more opportunities will come your way.

Are there any hidden gems on campus you think everyone should know about?
A hidden gem on campus for me is definitely the Study Abroad office. I never would’ve imagined leaving the country to study, but the staff there made the whole process feel possible and supported me every step of the way. Because of them, I had the chance to actually study abroad, which I had never imagined for myself previously. I’d recommend everyone stop by, even just to learn about the opportunities, you never know where it might take you. My study abroad experience in Spain was one of the most rewarding parts of my college journey.
