Shout out to our student organization leaders: Get to know Hope White, an accounting and finance major, and the new president of Accounting & Professional Services Club.

Hope in front of flowersWhy did you choose USI and the Romain College of Business and what makes them special to you?
I chose USI because I love the small campus and the opportunity to have a hands-on education. It is also close to home and very affordable. I have always loved USI’s campus, and I have wanted to attend the University from a very young age.

Why did you choose your current majors, accounting and finance?
I chose accounting and finance because I have always loved math, and I think I will enjoy the client-based jobs that are associated with these majors.

What has surprised you about college?
The amount of opportunities that are available at USI is incredible. The University makes it so easy to connect with others with the same interests as well as helping you get a professional career path started.

What are some of your favorite spots on campus and why?
One of my favorite spots on campus is the Redwood Lounge in the Wright Administration Building. It is not as crowded as the usual study spots on campus and isn’t dead silent like the Library either.

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen? What do you wish someone had told you?
I would tell them that they do not need to have everything figured out right away. It is totally fine to figure out what careers interest you along the way, so don’t stress it!

Tell us more about APS Club and why USI students should get involved with it!
Accounting and Professional Services Club is a great way to learn more about the world of accounting, network with local professionals, and hear about their personal experiences. It is also an easy way to meet people with the same interests as you.

What are your career goals?
I am not completely sure what I want to do after I graduate, but I am leaning toward becoming a financial advisor.

Fun fact about you:
I was born in Indiana but lived in Pennsylvania for six years before returning to attend USI.
