Due to ongoing inclement weather, the University of Southern Indiana campus will remain closed, and all in-person classes, activities and on-campus events are canceled Monday, January 26. Online classes will continue asynchronously unless students are notified by their professor. Essential personnel only should report to work. If you are unsure of your status, contact your supervisor. Essentials to Web Design Certificate

In this 96-hour certificate you will learn the basics of CSS and HTML so you can design, create and post your own site on the web. You will also be introduced to JavaScript which will allow you to add interactivity to your web page and you will learn powerful graphic design techniques.

To receive the certificate, complete the following four classes and receive 70% or higher on each of the finals.  Courses can be taken in any order. To see complete description and register click on the course titles below. The first time you register for an online course, you will be prompted to create an account.  This account will be unique for just the online courses.

  • Create Web Pages
    Learn the basics of HTML so you can design, create, and post your very own site on the Web. 
  • Designing Effective Websites
    Learn powerful graphic design techniques and build websites that are both attractive and wickedly effective. 
  • Introduction to JavaScript
    Build on your knowledge of HTML and CSS by learning to add interactivity to your web pages with JavaScript code and jQuery. You should take Introduction to CSS3 and HTML5 before Introduction to JavaScript. 

Note – All courses must be taken through Lifelong Learning at the University of Southern Indiana in-order to be eligible for the certificate.

When you have completed the four courses email Outreach@usi.edu with the following and we will mail the certificate to you:

  • your name
  • certificate name
  • courses completed (names and dates)
  • current mailing address
