What is The Wall That Heals?

The Wall That Heals is a traveling, three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., that tours the country. The  exhibit honors more than 3 million Americans who served in the U.S. armed forces in the Vietnam War and bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

Why Bring The Wall That Heals?

On Veterans Day in 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund introduced The Wall That Heals, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. with a mission to bring healing and remembrance to communities across America. Since then, this powerful memorial has visited nearly 700 communities nationwide, offering millions of visitors a space to reflect, honor our veterans and experience the lasting legacy of service and sacrifice.

Bringing The Wall That Heals to communities across the nation allows the names etched on the Memorial to be honored once more among family, friends, and neighbors within the comfort and meaning of familiar surroundings. This traveling exhibit offers thousands of veterans the opportunity to experience The Wall in a more personal setting, especially those who have found it difficult to visit the Memorial in Washington, D.C. By welcoming The Wall into their own communities, many veterans find the strength to reflect, remember and begin a meaningful journey of healing.

Be a part of this meaningful experience and help honor our veterans.

Volunteer opportunities will be available when The Wall That Heals arrives in Evansville. We need volunteers to help assemble the memorial, welcome and guide visitors, answer questions and assist with disassembly before it moves on to its next community. Your time and support will make a meaningful impact on visitors and our community.
